Crabapple Cottage
Firstly the communication prior to us staying was excellent and we had clear instructions for our arrival and departure. If asked a question regarding rhetorical local coastal path and Jane got back to me quickly with the answer. The cottage is in a small and quiet area off the main road and was spotlessly clean inside, as described and Jane had left some lovely little treats for our arrival. It’s close to the village pubs as well. It’s close enough to Whitby but far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet. The back garden was massive in length with everything you need. Our 2 spaniels loved it. The next door neighbour was lovely as well and even gave us some fresh Mackerel he’d caught the same day. The village of Hinderwell is an 8 mile drive to Whitby with other beautiful locations situated nearby in Runswick and Staithes. We loved our stay and will definitely be looking to return in the future. Thanks for making our stay an enjoyable and memorable one. July 2024
The property was spotlessly clean and well equipped. The kitchen was particularly well laid out and had all that we needed and more. There were two dog friendly pubs within fifty metres of the front door and further pubs in the surrounding area. We found plenty of places to visit nearby and great beaches for walks. Highly recommend. July 2024
We loved staying at the Crabapple cottage! It’s such a beautiful cottage with an impressive garden and very homely decor. Our daughter loved the trampoline too! Jane was really easy to communicate with and we’ll definitely be back. June 2024
First time me and my husband have stayed in this area. Lovely cottage, with everything we needed. Great location to get to where we wanted to visit. One day we caught the bus to Whitby. Bus stop close to cottage. Definitely would recommend and stay here again. April 24

We had a lovely last minute stay at Crabapple Cottage. The property was spotless with all required amenities, kitchen and bathroom particular highlights! Location was great for us as a base to explore Staithes, Runswick Bay & Whitby, and the nice pubs in Hinderwell were a great bonus. We have just returned from a short break at this wonderful cottage. The communication with the owner prior to check in was brilliant and the welcome goodies were thoroughly appreciated after a rather treacherous journey. The location of the accommodation was perfect and provided a fantastic base to explore the local area. The cottage itself was immaculate and provided all the amenities you could possibly need. We would love to return in the summer months to make use of the huge private garden. Overall, we highly recommend this accommodation and would not hesitate in returning. Jan 2024

Perfect bolt hole- the cottage is thoughtfully furnished with lots of personal touches that make for a cozy holiday home. WiFi is great, garden spacious, kitchen well provided for, bedroom extremely comfortable, parking right outside. The village is superbly situated for walks on the doorstep. Lovely cottage in a lovely village. Check in easy. Very comfortable cottage with everything you would need. Our dogs loved the garden and many walks. Loved the welcome package very thoughtful. We arranged an Asda online shop to be delivered on our arrival. Very nice stay and would def go back. Sept 2023.

The house has everything we could’ve needed. The kids had a safe space to burn off evening energy while we relaxed. Jane responded immediately to the one query we had while there. Everything else was so easy. The surrounding areas of amazing for exploring and sea activities. Will definitely be back. August 2023
The cottage had everything we needed for our 3 night stay and the very generous welcome items in the kitchen were much appreciated. It was conveniently situated for some wonderful coastal walks to Runswick Bay and Staithes. We used the bus to get to Whitby, so didn’t need the car once there. We highly recommend this property and would definitely consider staying again, perhaps for longer next time. July 2023
We loved the location as it was close to the coastal path which led to Staithes or Runswick Bay. We were able to catch a bus only a short distance away, which enabled us to start our hikes at different points along the Clevedon Way. The cottage was perfect for the two of us and my dog Alfie loved the long garden. Jane provided a lovely welcome pack for our arrival which was a real treat! Such a gorgeous cottage, really homely and close to everything. Jane is a great host and is on hand if needed. The welcome pack was fantastic, super comfy beds and really well equipped. The trampoline was a massive hit and we barbecued 2 nights. We honestly couldn’t fault it and will definitely be back. Absolutely loved it ❤️June 2023
Crabapple cottage was like home from home just much more peaceful! Great location with a fab pub and fish & chip shop on the doorstep. The cottage was very well equipped and tastefully furnished with good quality furniture and items. Jane was very informative and responsive to messages. A truly charming cottage in an excellent location. We have just returned from a short break to Hinderwell and the surrounding area and could not be more impressed. Jane provided all the information in advance and the cottage was spotless, inviting and had all the charm that the photos suggested. The kids were extremely excited about the bunk beds and the trampoline in the garden was a big hit! Will be rebooking again given the opportunity! April 2023
Beautifully presented cottage; cosy, clean, comfortable with everything we needed for our short stay. In a great location, tucked away just off the main road. A generous welcome pack on arrival which went down a treat! Our two boys, 12 and 14, loved the trampoline. We walked from the cottage to Runswick Bay with a successful fossil hunting trip and then carried on along the Cleveland Way to Staithes, before looping back to Hinderwell along the road. We enjoyed a lovely evening meal at The Badger Hounds, just a minutes walk from the cottage – be sure to prebook! Great days out at Whitby and Saltburn-By-The-Sea too. Lovely stay in Hinderwell over the Easter weekend. The cottage was clean, close to various amenities and villages for some great day trips and the trampoline went down extremely well with our 5 year old! Thank you also for the lovely welcome pack including the chocolate Easter bunnies. Our host was helpful and very accommodating and we would recommend! April 2023
Starboard Cottage
We had a fab few days at the cottage. It’s in. Great location near the beach & pub and the cottage is decorated very tastefully with a very well equipped kitchen. We Loved lounging in the hammock in the garden in the sunny evenings. Jane was very responsive to all Messages and we couldn’t have asked for more. We recommend Beacon Farm ice cream, the rum & raisin was amazing! June 2024
What a gorgeous home. There were 4 adults and 2 babies stay here and it was perfect for us all. Spacious, everything you would need, wonderfully large garden and overall fantastic place to stay. Jane was incredibly punctual (I messaged a few times before we got there) and couldn’t have done more for us. The location was perfect- not far from the bay at all. What a fabulous time we had! We would highly recommend to anybody wanting to stay at Runswick Bay. May 2024
A beautiful home set in a great location. The cottage was so well presented and extremely relaxing to be in , lovely homely feel and coastal theme, modern but beautifully traditional. Hosts clearly cares about the guests experience and comfort. The cottage is in a great location, we would love to go back soon, felt so at home there and didn’t want to leave. Jane was very generous leaving us a nice surprise in the fridge for our birthday celebrations. Easy to contact Jane for anything we needed and would recommend this place to anyone. Beautiful house which as soon as we walked through the door we felt right at home. Had everything we needed to self cater and such beautiful interior design. Had the most wonderful weekend stay at Starboard Cottage. A fabulous guest hamper on arrival with an abundance of goodies for the weekend. The house is wonderful with ample space. Jane was an incredible host with quick and attentive communication. The pub is a couple of doors away which served well for Sunday lunch. The downstairs shower proved very handy for an adventurous dog and child. All in all an incredible stay, would definitely return. Jan 24

Jane proved to be a fantastic host! She has created a beautiful home from home, with stylish and thoughtful decor, excellent amenities and quality furnishings. Excellent communication, with detailed information being sent through prior to the trip, and even a thoughtful finishing touch of a welcome basket. The house is in a quiet street with parking for two cars and just a few footsteps away from The Royal which we frequented several times! The garden is such a plus, and our daughter LOVED the trampoline! A short walk to Runswick beach for fossil hunting and Staithes, Whitby and Saltburn are all so close by. Loved our weekend away with my husband and 3 girls to Jane’s place in Runswick Bay. Loved the location – so easy to walk to the beautiful bay. Recommend walking along top bank and through the little alleyways of the village. So pretty. Get ready for steep climb back up! The bay was amazing – so many fossils! We went to the local pub which is super handy and a few doors away. Then Magpie Cafe in Whitby and the Cod and Lobster in Staithes. So much to do and so little time. Jane’s house was so well appointed. Everything you need, kids loved the trampoline, super clear instructions and very responsive. Thank you so much! 🙂 Oct 2023

We had the most fabulous stay at Jane’s cottage. It was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated with fantastic attention to detail. Myself, husband, our 4 month old girl and little dog had the most amazing break away at Starboard cottage – our first family holiday! The cottage is equipped with everything we needed and is beautifully decorated throughout the whole place. The garden is spectacular. Our Cavapoo absolutely loved running up and down, and the bonus of a trampoline brought me back 15 years! Location was great, perfect for Runswick Bay beach, a pub, cafe and then only 15 minutes in the car to Whitby! Jane was very helpful and so quick to respond to anything at all! Sept 2023
We had a brilliant stay at Starboard Cottage. Excellent information beforehand and communication from Jane during our stay and lovely welcome pack too. The house is beautiful and garden with trampoline and football & basketball net was a huge hit with our children. We have visited Runswick before and loved the beautiful beaches, we would love to come again and would very happily return to Jane’s place. Fantastic family holiday! August 2023
Starboard Cottage is a well equipped home-from-home with lovely decor, linen, crockery and furnishings. The trampoline and football goal in the back garden were a great success with my granddaughter. The cottage is a short walking distance from the beautiful beach at Runswick Bay and the location is within easy driving (or bus-trip) distance of Sandsend, Whitby and Saltburn. I would highly recommend it. July 2023
We had a brief but fantastic stay in Janes property. We found it scrupulously clean, very ‘themed’ for the location and extremely comfortable. It truly felt like home. This was ‘back to my roots’ and the beauty of the area had faded over time, we certainly won’t leave it so long to return and Starboard Cottage will be our first choice. No hesitation in recommending this property and if you go to the local pub (50 yards away) try the corned beef pie! Scrummy. July 2023

We have enjoyed an amazing weekend at the Starboard cottage. The house was more spacious than we anticipated and beautifully decorated. Lots of thought has been put into homely extras which made our stay very enjoyable and the large garden kept both grandparents and toddlers happy! We had a wonderful stay at Jane’s cottage. It is beautifully decorated, very homely and very well equipped (everything you could possibly need kitchen wise which is refreshing). The hammock and trampoline in the large securely fenced garden were a huge bonus. It’s a great location, easily walkable to the beautiful beach at Runswick Bay and an easy drive to Staithes, Sandsend and Whitby. Jane was very helpful and easy to communicate with. Just spent a fabulous 5 days at Jane’s cottage. Wow, it’s beautiful – everything you could wish for and more! Super comfy beds, a cosy lounge, huge bathroom. The kids loved the outdoor space, and spent hours on the trampoline. Very peaceful location, in short driving distance to local shops.
