About Crabapple Cottage

This charming semi-detached cottage is set back from the main road in Hinderwell within a small courtyard and moments away from the local pub. Ideal for a small family this cottage is in a fantastic location for discovering the nearby coastal towns and villages.

You enter into the delightful sitting room which is a very comfortable space with the benefit of a wood-burning stove to relax in front of in the evening. The sofa in the cosy lounge opens into a small double sofa bed suitable for a fifth guest.

There is also a dining area where you can spread out the maps and plan the next day’s activities.

At the rear of the property is the kitchen which leads out to the long lawned garden featuring a gas BBQ and comfortable garden furniture. An ideal space to enjoy the evening air whilst you let the children and dogs enjoy the space which includes a large ‘springfree’ trampoline.

The bathroom completes the ground floor accommodation and upstairs are two cosy bedrooms, a king-size double and a bunk room with two full size single beds.

The rural village of Hinderwell is a fantastic location between Staithes and Runswick Bay. The X4 bus passes 50 yards from the house offering easy access to both seaside locations. The village is home to a great butchers selling locally reared meats and a selection of fresh fruit and veg along with other household essentials. The fish and chip shop is only a short stroll from the cottage along the main street.

A lovely cottage in a perfect location for coastal walks to Runswick Bay and Staithes. The place itself is both modern and cosy with a fantastic garden for the dog. We really appreciated the thoughtful treats left on arrival and Jane was very accommodating with providing a highchair and travel cot for our little one. Overall we had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone else wanting to stay in the area! March 26

Beautiful little cosy cottage that is great for a small family. The trampoline was very popular, and we enjoyed having wood fires every night for that lovely, cosy cottage vibe. We did some lovely local walks around the spectacular coastline. It was a perfect little break! Feb 26

A beautifully decorated and very well equipped cottage in an ideal location for exploring the local area. Jane was very helpful and we arrived late after a long drive and had no problem letting ourselves in and putting the kids straight to bed. The beds were very comfy and there are some very thoughtful details in terms of night lighting and a comprehensive welcome pack including good tea and coffee 🙂 The kids loved the trampoline and the dog was also very well catered for. A really lovely place to spend a few days. Jane was super responsive and the extra touches were really appreciated. It’s a great location within walking distance to Runswick and Staithes as well as a short drive to Whitby. We visited in Winter and we unfortunately weren’t blessed with good weather but would love to come back in Summer. Feb 26

Gorgeous cottage in peaceful location close to stunning beaches and countryside. Everything was in great condition with all we needed for a five-day break. Comfy beds, lovely finishing touches and the trampoline and garden for Easter egg hunting were a hit with the kids. Thanks for a wonderful stay! April 2025

What a lovely cottage! Our friends stayed last year and had given a fab recommendation so we decided to book and they weren’t wrong. Jane has made the place so cosy and beautiful inside. Perfect little touches including treats on arrival and a lovely log burner. We enjoyed the best few days by the coast. April 2025

A lovely place to stay with so much to do nearby! A lovely pub for great food within walking distance too! I messaged Jane a few times with various questions, and each time she was very helpful and quick to respond. we’d definitely come back again! April 2025

What a little gem this cottage is. The location is fab, and walkable to pubs and the beach. The cottage has a huge enclosed garden with a lovely decked area with seating and a trampoline which the kids loved. There was a lovely welcome hamper upon our arrival which went down a treat with all of us. Jane has thought of everything, the kitchen is really well equipped, logs for the log burner, magazines and games. And stuff for the dog too. Loads to do around the area, so the location is perfect. Don’t hesitate to book this place you won’t regret it! May 25

 

Any less than 5* or a-maz-ing would be doing Jane and Crabapple Cottage a disservice. The neighbours were fabulous too. We had everything we could possibly want in the cottage and looong garden, and more, including the trampoline 😄. Jane was super responsive to questions I raised even when she was out with a friend and immediately set to finding a solution to our mini problem. Settees and bed were very comfortable and our dog was immediately relaxed in the property which was also really important to us. So many places to visit nearby and lots to do, we could have spent way more time there. May 25

On arrival the cottage was so warm and inviting. We felt right at home immediately. The cottage is super cosy with the log burner and is spottlessly clean. It has everything you could possibly wish for whilst being away. It is in a peaceful location and only a short drive or walk along the coastal path to the local beaches. The treats on arrival were such a nice touch and greatly appreciated. We can’t wait to come back. Dec 25
