Starboard Cottage

Had a lovely stay, a beautiful cottage , very well thought out, everything we needed, the decor is to die for. The area is stunning, perfect location and close to a very good pub serving nice, well priced food. Can’t fault a thing, will hopefully be back next year 😊. Sept 26

Great bus service to Whitby from almost outside the front door. Fantastic garden, especially for the dogs. We enjoyed a lovely walk from Sandsend to Whitby, but ensure you check the tide times. A spacious and comfy house, thank you for sharing your lovely home by the sea. We will be back! July 25

We ADORE coming here! Thank you so much Jane and for being such a generous host. The house and garden are fabulous, style and comfort in equal abundance. So many great places to eat in the area; The Magpie Cafe @ Whitby, The Fish Cottage @ Sandsend, Sea View Restaurant @ Saltburn, Marys @Sandsend, the list goes on and not to mention the ice cream, coffee and cakes at Tides cafe on the beach. Can’t wait to be back. July 25

Lots of great walks on the beach and the Cleveland way and the trampoline in the garden is always a hit!! Highly recommend fresh fish from Staithes and Restaurant No 20 in Port Mulgrave. Thank you Jane, as ever, a wonderful stay at Starboard. Can’t wait to be back! August 25

We had a wonderful 2 nights at Starboard Cottage. The house was beautifully clean with everything you could need for a home-from-home stay. The Runswick Bay hotel (just next door) and They Royal Hotel (down near the bay) offered lovely food and a great atmosphere. We walked the coat path to Staithes and enjoyed a lovely lunch at The Cod and Lobster. Overall our trip to Runswick Bay was perfect and we would definitely return to Starboard Cottage. Sept 25

It’s always a nice surprise when you arrive to find the house is even nicer than the photos look! Such a beautiful home with lots of attention to detail. Our little girl absolutely loved the huge garden and trampoline! Only a short walk (or drive) down to the beach at Runswick Bay- it was our first time there and we absolutely loved it! We also managed to squeeze in trips to Sandsend, Staithes and Saltburn! Great location for visiting all those places. A lovely welcome hamper waiting for us too- thank you! Our stay at Jane’s place was very chilled,walking the beach every day and evening with our westie Mabel who absolutely
loved life in Runswick Bay and barked with happiness as she ran relentlessly on the sand.
Jane gave us a really warm welcome with a lovely basket of goodies and the kitchen was stocked with everything that you
could possibly need.
The Royal Hotel and Runswick Bay Hotel had a wide variety of food and can be thoroughly enjoyed, particularly the chips at
The Royal.
Our stay was well worth the money and we would recommend the experience we had to everyone.. Sept 26

Jane was really helpful and responsive from the start, she really went above and beyond to help us. The property was beautiful and you could tell how much love had been put into it. All the items in the property were fantastic quality. Location was really peaceful and a small walk to the beach! Overall a fantastic stay and we would 100% come again! June 2026

This was our second visit to Jane’s beautiful home in Runswick bay and once again I can’t recommend more highly . Perched above the bay this cosy home from home is fabulous for those wishing to explore the North Yorkshire coastal area . The service bus runs from outside for further afield visits or spend the day exploring the beach in Runswick bay . A truly relaxing few days . Thank you Jane

We had a lovely stay at Starboard Cottage. Jane was super helpful and responsive. The surrounding are beautiful and I definitely recommend getting up early to walk down to the beach for a beautiful and peaceful sunrise. The garden was amazing for our furry friends and the kids loved it too. The place had everything we needed and we loved the fireplace to enjoy a cozy night in. Feb 26
